Baxi Luna 310 Fi Fault on Fan or Flue
Fixation the Baxi Luna 310Fi fan fracture failure
I purchased unitary of these units about a decade past for my guest house. It worked well until one twenty-four hour period this winter. The steam boiler would not fire and the red neon light (third from the left and marked with a fan symbolization) would loud continuously. Twisting the function dial to "reset" did not solve the problem.
There is no Baxi-Luna dealer present in Santa Iron, NM, Oregon anywhere in the Southwest, and the North North American nation distributor, Marathon International in Canada, was of no help.
After perusing the manual and inquisitory on the web (which turned upwards all but naught of value) I did some troubleshooting. This fan/flue fault is supposed to take plac because the unit senses that there is an obstructed flue -- some kind of blockage Oregon constriction. Since that could moderate to fractional combustion and the production of deadly carbon monoxide, a safety feature keeps the kettle from igniting.
I went right and looked down the flue with a flashlight and found no obvious obstructer. So I far the enamel-stained cover of the unit and then the second, sheet tinny cover. After puzzling over the insides for few hours, I removed the cubital joint joint (near the top of the unit and above the electric fan), which is abutting to two plastic pressure sensation-perception tubes.
Privileged the elbow joint is a small brown plastic part called a venturi. I held it to the light and adage inside what appeared to be a fuzz of tiny white fibers. To clean information technology out, I poked a Q-tip into the hole and a wanderer came running outgoing.
I replaced the elbow joint and the boiler fired up just as it should.
If I had followed the advice I found on the web, I would have purchased a spick-and-span imperativeness sensor, and (when that didn't figure out) a information processing system board, which also would not have resolved the problem. Information technology was one little spider that brought the whole system down. If I had been away traveling and had not detected the trouble, information technology could feature resulted in the freezing and bursting of the pipes in the refulgent floor warming system.
I'm grateful for the safety boast, but I wonder if it is overly sensitive. A few months later the problem recurred, and again thither was a bantam wanderer net inside the venturi.
After taking apart the building block, I am affected with the quality of construction. But I am discomfited by the impossibility of finding a repair technician and at the unresponsiveness of Marathon International. At the least I now know how to fix this job myself.
